Message I go to work at an hour when the vampires are still out. This means the highways, for the most part, are pretty deserted until I get near my destination. This morning I was cruising about 80mph with a couple other cars. We were kinda line-abreast when this pair of headlights came up fast and tailgated the car next to me. I faded back just enough to be sure it wasn't a CHP. It was a BMW. I dropped into fourth and pulled ahead a little to see what the guy would do. He immediately snaked around the other car, and as soon as I saw him start his move I nailed it. I stayed ahead of him as I ran 4th gear all the way out, shifted into 5th and screwed the gas pedal to the floor. The pre-dawn morning was cold and crisp, and the turbos were pulling really strong. I maintained a few car lengths on the BMW, but was quite surprised I wasn't pulling away from him until we were going so fast that well, let's just say I haven't felt adrenelin like that since my first skydiving experience. I carefully moved across his path into the left lane while still at max boost, and we continued to accelerate. When I saw taillights up ahead streaking towards us, I backed off. It was then I realized I was going so damn fast I was afraid to look down at the gauges. I did 135 in the TT once and wasn't afraid to do that... We both braked hard as we came up on traffic (it seemed to take forever to get slowed down), and I pulled across to take an exit. The BMW weaved through the other cars (a practice I'm firmly against) and continued on his way.

I think the BMW was a 5-series sedan, and I was really impressed at how fast it was.
